Meditate on Scripture
Habakkuk ends with the prophets prayer - chapter 3 - where speaks of the coming of God with might and glory. God will have the final say and that is something we all must remember. Right now the prophet's life is filled with troubles - "though the fig tree does not blossom, and no fruit is on the vines; though the olive fails, and the fields have no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls." Chapter 3:17 - The people are facing starvation. Life itself is being taken away. How does he end his prayer? "yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and makes me tread upon the heights." Chapter 3:18-19 Believers always have the resource of trust in the God of all power and might. They are living in relation to a powerful and capable God who does love and care for them. It is the life of faith exemplified by the last words of prayer of Jesus upon the cross as his life was being taken away, as his enemies were triumphant, and evil had won; "Father, into your hands do I commit my spirit." This was not the end - only the beginning. Our risen Savior even now is "treading upon the heights."
